California Girl

 

The Californian girl and the Aussie beach girl have lot in common - they are both bright and breezy. They are sun kissed, healthy and outdoorsy. They're all about the beach, the gym, keeping fit and lunching with friends in outdoor cafes. They dress in a relaxed and confident style showing off their tans. They're not afraid to wear brights colours, short shorts, playful dresses and have some fun! It must be something in the air!

Beach Bound

Today is a perfect beach day.

I'll arm myself with towel, hat, sunscreen, mags and beach bag.
It's the only place I truly relax and unwind
and it's the only place where the kids can amuse themselves all day long
without spending a cent!
It there's no winging, whining and fighting
they are rewarded with an ice-cream
so that always guarantees good behavior!
We trapse home sandy, salty and bedraggled
but pleased with our day of fun in the sun!

Summer Is ....

Summer is...

• Travelling to a faraway place, to discover something new.
• Sitting under a big shady tree in the heat of a summer afternoon.
• Freshly mown grass, sprinklers and listening to crickets in the backyard.
• Balmy nights spent entertaining in the great outdoors with friends and family.
• Stepping from the beach onto the grass with sand between your toes.
• The lightest of fabrics allowing the sea breeze to cool your sun-kissed skin.
• Endless summer days with nothing to do but stop and take in your surroundings.
• Rich, glossy green foliage contrasting against bright, tropical flowers.
• The cool sea breeze at the end of a hot summer's day.   
• The relaxed, slower pace of life.

Colour Explosion

 

 

 

I love the use of colour in a beach house. It injects a sense of fun and anticipation of good things to come. It puts guests in a happy, relaxed frame of mind. City woes are left behind and the promise of easy, carefree days lie ahead. Eclectic furniture, splashes of bright colour and bold patterns all add to the sense of whimsy in these colouful and quirky beach shacks.

Summer Ready

Oh my gosh - it's that time of the year when the panic sets in. Summer is only just around the corner and the big question is 'have we got ourselves in shape for summer, swimwear and days at the beach'? The magazines and papers are full of advice, tips, diets and exercise regimes. That all seems far too hard to me. I prefer the gradual, less drastic approach and I try to eat well all year round and keep up the exercise right through winter. Boring, I know but when it comes to summer I'm always glad I've done the hard yards. I find routine and good habits are easier to stick too than fad diets and bursts of exercise. Which approach do you take?

Aqua Haze

 

 

With summer just around the corner I am looking forward to ~

walks on the beach with the sun on my back and the waves lapping at my bare feet.

I am dreaming of warm sand between my toes and easy carefree days.

I can't wait for humid, balmy evenings and

 watching the moonlight shimmer on the water.

I am longing to wear shorts, single tops and summer dresses again.

Breathe

 

With a busy week ahead and lots of deadlines -

I just need to remember to stay calm and breathe!

By the weekend, the bigger jobs will be handed over
and everything will be under control.
I always find it very comforting knowing that at the end of the week,
I can head to beach, collect shells, listen to the waves crashing
and the stress of the week disappears with the outgoing tide!
