Ocean Pleasures

The ocean brings me many pleasures ~

both great and small

Simple things like

collecting shells and driftwood on the beach

watching sea birds dart and glide

feeling the salt air and wind in my face and

falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves all

bring me great joy.

INDIA HICKS FIVE FAVOURITE TIPS

FOR LIVING A SUCCESSFULLY BALANCED LIFE...

  * 1. Not indulging in too much of a social life. 

Now-a-days I would prefer to be at home tucking my children into bed than attending a social dinner, especially as evening hours can be so productive in the home office, no phones ringing, no interruptions, no dogs needing to be exercised.

  * 2. Keeping your body and soul in shape. 

I try to exercise 5 days a week.

  * 3. Being born under the star sign Virgo.

 We are phenomenally organised - we even organize piles of paper clips.

  * 4. Not being ashamed to ask for help.

For instance, having some one else cook the kids dinner.

  * 5. Not spending too much time worrying about the little things.

Beach Bound

My favourite weekends are low key, relaxed days that
go something like this ~
long beach walks looking for shells
watching the fishing boats, surfers
and sailing boats bobbing on the water
laughing at the kids trying to chase seagulls
hanging out with friends on the deck with cheese and biscuits
and a glass of red!

Beach Ride

These look like perfect weekend activities ...

 hope you have a lovely weekend!

I have just booked a horse ride along the beach.

The ride is a couple of hours long,

starting off on a meandering trail through the bush

and finishing off with a canter along the beach

It'll be so much fun - I can't wait!

Early Evening Light

 

 

 

I like to savour that magical time of day

 when the sun begins to sink ~

long shadows are cast in the sand and

everything is bathed in a soft golden glow.

It really is, the most beautiful part of the day.

A Beautiful Life

 

 

 

Surround yourself with what you love ...

That's why I moved from the city to a small coastal town.

Firstly, I fell in love, so I moved down the coast to be with him.

 We got married and renovated a run down beach shack

Now I live in a home which I love, surrounded by a garden that I love.

I live in a beautiful part of the world 

with pristine beaches, National Parks and endless natural beauty.

Everyday I count myself as lucky.

Good-bye Summer Days

 

 

I'm so sad it is the last day of summer ~ I am still basking in all the glory summer has to offer. Late morning wakeups, breakfast outdoors, long days at the beach and late afternoons lounging on the deck with a refreshing gin and tonic in hand. From dawn to dusk we are out on surfboards, boogie boards and bikes making the most of the last of the summer days.

Beach This Way

One of my favourite things about living by the beach is strolling along the foreshore looking for half buried sea treasures in the sand. Birds swoop by as gentle, rhythmic waves roll in and wash ashore pretty sea shells and seaglass. On these gorgeous mornings in a light, breezy summer dress with the sun on my face - I think to myself :~

'Life doesn't get much better than this!'
