Tropical Foliage

I love flowers but I also like to mix things up a bit.

Sometimes I just use leaves, branches and tropical foliage

for dramatic, large scale arrangements. 

Not only can it be cheaper than flowers but it's a little more enexpected

adding a lush, green suprise element to the room.

Ralph Lauren Tropical Style - Get The Look

Fashion designer Ralph Lauren and his wife, Ricky, bought a Jamaican villa on Round Hill, near Montego Bay, some 20 years ago. It's a wonderful, exotic mix of Asian antiques, ginger jars.  Chinoiserie mirrors, bamboo and rattan.The greenery of the surrounding gardens and the flamboyant colours of the tropical flowers have been incorporated into the decor colour palette. It has a quiet, relaxed feel to the home with an understated elegance that we associate with Ralph Lauren.

 Just wondering if he has a guest house ~

 I can see myself with a cocktail by that pool!!

INDIA HICKS FIVE FAVOURITE TIPS

FOR LIVING A SUCCESSFULLY BALANCED LIFE...

  * 1. Not indulging in too much of a social life. 

Now-a-days I would prefer to be at home tucking my children into bed than attending a social dinner, especially as evening hours can be so productive in the home office, no phones ringing, no interruptions, no dogs needing to be exercised.

  * 2. Keeping your body and soul in shape. 

I try to exercise 5 days a week.

  * 3. Being born under the star sign Virgo.

 We are phenomenally organised - we even organize piles of paper clips.

  * 4. Not being ashamed to ask for help.

For instance, having some one else cook the kids dinner.

  * 5. Not spending too much time worrying about the little things.

Tropical Safari

I always favour design with a slightly exotic, eclectic mix.

I like mixing cultures, textures and styles ~

to create something unique and individual.

I try to incorporate collections, vintage treasures and travel souvenirs
into the design to give a home personality and character.
I love this clever mix of African artefacts and tropical flair.

Sea Island Style - Get The Look

This classically styled Sea Island holiday house embraces a vivid coastal palette of sea green and turquoise. I generally prefer a more relaxed, low key feel for a beach house but this coastal retreat inspires me because of the strong use of statement colour. These something about the bold use of colour that screams confidence!
