Weekend Beach Escape

Here's a little colourful, weekend beach inspiration
For me, weekends are all about kicking back and relaxing.
Eating outdoors, having a drink with friends at a local beach bar
and lots of fun outdoor activities.
Our weekends are always jam packed with ~
fishing, swimming, boogie boarding, beach cricket
and whatever else takes our fancy!

Happy Weekend!

Summer Living Alfresco

Lunch Alfresco

There is something totally delicious about eating outdoors.

The sun warming your skin, the buzz of chatter in the air, the clinking of glasses and
the laughter of kids playing and splashing in the pool.
The table is laden with Italian summertime treats like ~
homemade foccacia,
tomato, basil and mozzarella salad,
crispy pizzas straight from the pizza oven and
a chilled bottle of Pinot Grigio to wash it all down!
There's a pergola draped in vines to keep off the midday sun
and an afternoon dip in the pool to cool you down.
What a perfect setting!

Outdoor Summer Living

One of my favourite things about summer is entertaining, eating and relaxing outdoors. When the weather warms everyone wants to be outdoors as much as possible. Therefore, it is worth putting in the effort and spending some time and money on creating a great outdoor living space that is both attractive and functional... you can probably tell I'm married to a landscape architect! Too often outdoor spaces are neglected or not maximised to their full potential. Invest in some good pieces of furniture that will last the distance and some stylish accessories. Make a list of things you want like to incorporate in your outdoor scheme like eating, cooking, lounging and playing and plan a space to suit your lifestyle, budget and your outdoor area. Here are a few stylish ideas for an outdoor patio.

Hamptons Poolside Style - Get The Look

Escape Outdoors This Summer

Summer is here so most of our living and entertaining happens outdoors.
The days are long and lazy, fresh food is simply cooked on the bbq
and there is plenty of time to relax with family and friends.

When it comes to creating a Hamptons feel with your poolside furniture - think long lasting materials like teak and synthetic wicker in natural colours. Both of these materials can be exposed to the elements and can stay permanently outdoors. Buy good quality pieces that will stand the test of time. Use waterproof fabric for upholstery and cushions. To keep them clean and looking new it's best to store these indoors when not in use. Consider a splash of colour for accents like cushions and guest towels - navy, pale blue and aqua are the most popular choices for a beach house.

Summer Patio Style

~ design inspiration ~

~ dress to the theme ~

White hot

One of my favourite parts about summer is being able to live my life outdoors. There is nothing more relaxing than lounging, chilling, reading or entertaining outdoors. Here in Australia, most of us are blessed with lots of outdoor living spaces:- large gardens, big backyards, spacious decks, pools and courtyards. But no matter what size or shape you have ~ your outdoor space should always be stylish and usable. It doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg to create a relaxing outdoor environment try Ikea, Kmart, Target and Bunnings for clever, cost effective, stylish ideas. With a bit of imagination it's easy to create a cool oasis for the upcoming warmer weather. I am loving this all white patio look and these crisp white relaxed summer pieces to go with it. A perfect spot to cool down with a chilled mineral water on a hot summer's day!

Seaside Cottage

Beach Cottage

With summer just around the corner I am loving this fresh beach cottage inspiration decked out in a seaside palette of white, aqua, pale blue and seafoam. It's about now that lots of houses in our little beach town go on the market trying to lure the holidaymakers in time for summer. My husband and I have lots of fun, walking the streets, picking out our favourite ones, re-designing them, costing out the renovations, landscaping and decorating them in our heads before we decide we are really very happy just where we are in our lovely beach shack!

Relax In Style - Outdoor Living

With summer not too far away - it's time to start thinking about upgrading our outdoor furniture. We never have enough seats for when the weekend visitors arrive. What were we thinking when we bought a four seater outdoor table all of those years ago? We must have been mad? At the time we didn't realize that we were going to be a destination holiday house over the summer months. We all cosy up and we can squeeze 8 around the table but it's time to go upmarket with something big, dramatic and stylish. There is some amazing outdoor furniture around these days - even being on a tight budget doesn't limit your options. I am loving these very sleek designer options so I think it's time to start shopping!

PS. A big thank-you for everyone's well wishes and congratulations from yesterday
 - I had a great morning reading all of your lovely comments!
