A Stylish Weekend At The Hamptons

Outdoor Living

Navy Chic

I love the idea of a summer in the Hamptons
~ I have been watching too many 'Revenge' episodes
and have become obsessed with anything to do with the Hamptons!
How perfect to be lunching on the patio,
chatting, laughing and catching up on the social gossip ~
followed by a relaxing afternoon, sunning on a pool lounge!
I think I could slip into that lifestyle very easily!

Now I just need the house, the car and the wardrobe
to match the lifestyle!!!

A Chic Weekend at the Hamptons

Beach Chic

I would be very happy to be be packing my Gucci overnighter
and heading to the Hamptons for the weekend.
I would pack classic seperates and chic dresses
that would take me from day to evening
with a simple change of shoes and bag.
This very demure dress would be perfect by day
for shopping, elegant lunching and popping by a favourite gallery.
Then simply by slipping on some heels and adding a clutch
it is just right for a romantic dinner at a cosy, local restaurant.

Weekend Chic

A little weekend sparkle

Re-create This Look

breezy days

I love the low key but sophisticated air to the Hamptons signature style.
For homes it's all about classic chic in elegant neutrals
and for fashion it's about laid back yet polished clothing and accessories.
The classic summer white shorts, polos, chinos, button downs and cardigans
are all undeniable fashion staples in the Hamptons.
Favoured designers are Polo Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Gant.
The Hamptons look is traditional and chic
with ballet flats, pearls, ladylike handbags and gold jewllery
being the summer's must-have accessories.

Hamptons interiors always look stylish
in white, beige and pale grey with accents in shades of blue.

Hamptons Style - Get The Look

Re-create this Hamptons Look

Neutral Classics

I am totally smitten with anything to do with the Hamptons:-
the scenery, the architecture, the interior design and the lifestyle.
The Hamptons seems to have it all.
I love the classic style of the interiors
~ particularly the kitchens ~
and I'm often re-creating the look for clients
with white weatherboard houses by the sea.
I use plenty of magazine clippings and mood boards
to get the right look for the client.

East Hampton Showcase

Yellow & Black

I'm always roaming through blogs and magazines
on the lookout for gorgeous Hamptons style inspiration for the new house.

Since I started reading blogs it has improved my skills as a designer
showcasing clever ideas and colour schemes that other designers have put together.
I am constantly inspired by the Americans and their use of colour
and the Scandinavians with their rustic, minimal approach.

Today I'm loving this striking and dramatic combination
of black and white with a touch of yellow!

The Art Of Framing

Here are some interesting ideas for creating gallery-like picture walls. The idea is great in theory but can ending up looking a bit of a mismatch if you don't stick to a few simple guidelines. I always suggest you keep it to a simple colour combination - black and white is an obvious choice but the results are always successful. It's best to stick to one colour mount card - white of course and one single colour for the frames. Then to create interest vary the size and type of the frames and the size of the finished artwork. Then fun is then all in the hanging!

Relaxed Hamptons Style - Get The Look

Re-create This Look

Hamptons Style Chic

I love everything about the Hamptons style ~ from the pavilion style architecture to the warm timbers, detailed windows, parquetry flooring and classic, soft interior furnishings. It's a style of architecture and design that works really well here in Australia. Best of all you don’t need to live by the sea to use this style of decorating. You can keep it classic and timeless or simply by adding nautical and 'beachy'  you can give it a coastal feel.

Relaxed Hamptons

Hamptons fashion style has a relaxed, casual feel leading itself to American sportswear in a palette of navy, white and red with basics such as shorts and chinos in shades of beige and khaki. Think rugby shirts, polos, deck shoes and topsiders. The look is sporty but with classic, polished feel to it.
