Palm Beach with a Touch of Scandi

ausscandi

Another beautiful Beach House to start the week, what about this glorious renovated Fisherman’s cottage on NSW’s Northern Beaches…

It's full of natural light, organic materials and interesting textures.

Loads of white is balanced by the natural timber

I adore this blackboard look!  One for the style file!

Fire Island Beach House

Country Road Homewares - Yellow

Country Road Homewares - Orange

Country Road - Red

Today I'm in need of a burst of colour to get me motivated!

I love this colourful beach house because it breaks the trend of whitewashed, nautical-inspired schemes, which I love, but every so often we have to mix things up a bit. With a colour block approach to decorating, this Fire Island beach house certainly fits the bill. I love how simple shelving and bookcases have been made into interesting features with a quick coat of paint. The accessories are simple but make colourful statements. Although bright hues are used, they are used in an understated but playful manner. And don't get me started on that quirky yellow mini surf shack / bathing box! What a perfect way to finish off the outside of this fun, casual beach house.

Check out country Road Homewares for similar colourful accessories.

1950's Inspired Beach House

50'sbeachhouse

According to designers Sanctum Design, this beautiful 1950′s inspired beach house in Manly was designed to compliment neighbouring architecture and celebrate the beautiful beachside environment.

Blonde timber and a light colour palette gives an air of breeziness to this coastal home.

I just adore those lights, what a highlight!
Feature pendants are used here to make a real design statement ~
adding both colour and texture.

Coastal Palette

The mostly white palette is a striking backdrop for splashes of  aquamarine in the lighting and soft furnishings, complimenting the stylish yet laid back feel.

Those chairs are divine!  And I love the three tiered bubble lights overhead.

Pure white with splashes of turquoise…pure style.  And the artwork is superb.

The perfect mix of style and simplicity. Coastal heaven!

Architecturally, this house features many of the elnments of my new beach house but unlike our run down interior this one is perfectly finished and styled exactly to my liking. Once I'm done, our house too will have a snazzy white kitchen, limewashed floorboards, the same modular sofa, beachy feature pendants and pale blonde timber furniture. However I think ours will end up with a slightly more relaxed, rustic feel. It's a great inspiration for me!

East Hampton Showcase

Re-create This Look

Yellow & Black

I'm always roaming through blogs and magazines
on the lookout for gorgeous Hamptons style inspiration for the new house.

Since I started reading blogs it has improved my skills as a designer
showcasing clever ideas and colour schemes that other designers have put together.
I am constantly inspired by the Americans and their use of colour
and the Scandinavians with their rustic, minimal approach.

Today I'm loving this striking and dramatic combination
of black and white with a touch of yellow!

Beach House in Brazil

This beach house in the resort town of  Búzios in Brazil
is looking pretty good to me.
Stunning views of the sea from just about every window ...
plenty of spots to relax and take it all in.
I love the simple bathroom design with the twin basins ~
there's plenty of space to add your own display flourishes.
The outdoor area provides the perfect backdrop
for a tasty alfresco lunch!

Beach Bungalow

Re-create this look

Shabby Chic

LOVING THIS BEACH BUNGALOW A LOT...
~ especially the outdoor shower!

I have always been a fan of shabby chic style -
it's one of those styles that works equally well on the coast
as it does in the country.
There's something cosy and comfiorting about slip-covered sofas,
worn painted vintage pieces and rustic charm!
