The Natural Approach

I have always believed in taking a natural approach to skincare.

I believe products that are naturally scented with essential oils and jam-packed with botanical extracts make you and your skin feel more uplifted - not just your complexion.
It makes sense to use some of the gifts that Mother Nature has given us.

There is nothing more cleansing and relaxing than do-it-yourself skin care.
Fresh Home Magazine also has some fresh and easy DIY facial recipes.
So go home, have some fun and give yourself a facial at home!

Oil of Olé
This guac-inspired moisturizer is suitable for even sensitive skin.

Gather:
2 tablespoons of fresh avocado, mashed
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon plain full-fat yogurt
½ teaspoon lemon juice

1.       Combine ingredients in a bowl.  Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
2.       While you’re waiting for the mixture to chill, clean your face with a soap-free cleansing wash.  Make two mugs of green tea and put an ice cube or two in one of them.
3.       Smear a thin layer of the chilled mask on your face, avoiding your eyes.  Sit back, relax for 10 or 15 minutes, and sip the warm tea.
4.       Rinse with lukewarm water.  Slowly splash your face with the cooled tea, and then rinse with water again.  Powerful antioxidants in tea help skin stay healthy.
Note: Don’t use black tea; it will stain your skin.

Fruity Skincare

Not for a second do I think that beauty creams can erase wrinkles caused from the passage of time and too much sun, but I do believe the ritual of applying them can nourish skin and give it a youthful appearance.

Beauty from nature...

I love the thought of using skincare that is all natural.
You are not only seduced by the nourishment but the the texture, the goodness, the fragrance and the colour of something made from Mother Nature's finest ingredients!

Peach Mask
The fruit acids in this mask gently exfoliate, stripping away dry, dead skin cells to reveal a fresher complexion.

Gather:
1 ripe peach, peeled and pitted
1 teaspoon brandy
Sprinkle of cornstarch
       1. Mash together the peach and brandy in a bowl.
Add just enough cornstarch to make a paste.
     2. Smooth over your face, steering clear of lips and eyes.  Sit back and relax.
Feel free to sip on any extra brandy.
       3. Rinse with lukewarm water after 20 minutes.
(Don’t leave the mask on any longer; it will irritate skin).

Beach Skincare

EVERYDAY SKINCARE FOR THE BEACH

Because I spend a lot of time at the beach it's essential that
I look after my skin and follow a good daily skincare routine.

After a day at the beach my skin is a scary combination of
sea salt, sunscreen and salt - on top of that add a layer of make-up to my face
so it's very important that I follow the 3 simple, golden rules of skincare :-

cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise.

Here are few easy tips on cleansing to keep your skin super-smooth and soft...

REVISE YOUR CLEANSING RITUAL

1. LESS IS MORE - washing your face twice a day is more than enough.

2. BE GENTLE - use a mild, creamy cleanser that maintains the normal pH balance of your skin and protects it from pollutants in the environment.

3. COVER ALL BASES - smooth your cleanser all over your face -
including along the hairline and over eyebrows
- otherwise dandruff and oiliness can develop.

4. DON'T SCRUB - if you do scrub your skin you can remove the cells before they’re ready
-  which can cause blood vessels to surface, protective oils to be stripped
and a reddening or chapping of the skin.

5. BE COOL - rinse cleanser off with tepid – not blood-vessel-popping water hot – water.
Finish with a rinse of cool- not freezing – water.

6. MOISTURISE WHEN MOIST - give your moisturiser some help by applying it soon after
rinsing, while skin is still damp

Summer Skincare Tips

EVERYDAY CARE

You and your skin are younger now than will ever be again,
so enjoy the way you look today and take time to
look after one of your most important assets
Living by the beach can take it's toll on your skin -
salt, wind and sun all have damaging effects
so that's why we need to vigilant with looking after our skin,
so it's soft, healthy, youthful and nourished.

.... here are few clever tips to help you on your way.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

TOO MANY TEMPTING SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Smearing on product after product might make you think you're doing the best for your skin, but it isn't worth the effort—or the money.
Actually, the more treatments you use, the more likely you're to develop an allergy or irritation - plus the products won't work as well.
A balanced approach is a better option—so focus on a couple products with the ingredients your skin needs most.

MOISTURE RICH

TRICK OF THE TRADE...
Never  rub moisturiser into your face, pat it on.
Rubbing actually takes it off your skin and disperses it in different places.
Patting it on helps the skin soak it up.
Now you know!

SQUEAKY CLEAN

ALWAYS WASH YOUR FACE BEFORE BED...

Letting skin marinate in makeup - not to mention a day's worth of oil buildup - can lead to clogged pores and blemishes, especially if you're prone to oily skin. Your body temperature increases slightly when you sleep, which can enhance absorption of whatever's on the surface - so you really want only beneficial ingredients on your face when you sleep. And another thing to remember ~ the longer your cleanser is left on your skin, the drier your skin will become - so always rinse after 60 seconds.

Radiant Skin

GLOWING SKIN

THE TRICK TO WELL-NOURISHED, RADIANT SKIN...
is to apply your moisturiser directly after having your bath or shower!
Don't towel-off too much, just gently pat skin with your towel, then massage in your cream or lotion.
The reason why —damp skin acts like a sponge and retains more moisture.
