A cottage by the sea in Denmark

A couple  living most of their time in Shanghai have a chance to escape their busy cosmopolitan city lifestyle when they return to Denmark ansd spend time over summer in their simple house by the sea in Skagen. They have decorated i tin a typical Scandinavian style with lots of white and rustic vintage pieces.

I love the sweet simplicity of it.

Scandinavian Beach Chic

Scandinavian design is a constant source of beach house fabulousness (if there is such a word!). They are so successful at achieving the perfect balance between laid back simplicity, casual ease and chic style. Nothing appears too cookie cutter or contrived. Pieces are casually thrown together and layered with ease - there's always a lovely fresh combination of vintage, rustic, a dash of country and lashings of white paint. Colours are generally in tones of white, beige, taupe and grey with beachy accents in navy and red. With a backdrop of white and textured natural accessories their seaside cottages always have a fun, holiday vibe to them.

A Swedish Weekender

With a new Swedish client on board I am feeling very inspired by this Swedish weekender. This client is the other half of my girlfriend who is a born and bred Aussie. They have enlisted my help to update their holiday house. I am hoping that my girlfriend will come to the party so we can give it a Scandinavian feel. It is one of my favourite design looks and one that can be easily adapted to the Australian lifestyle and climate. I love the grey washed cane, the use of natural linens and cottons as well as all the painted, chalked and lime washed timbers. Can't wait to get started on this one!

Swedish Holiday Cottage

I am loving today's all white Scandinavian inspiration

fresh, clean, pure and simple 

it doesn't get more perfect than that!

Give my family just one week in

those beautiful, pure white spaces

and they would never be the same again!!!
